Our Amenities
The amenities provided in Sukhalay are finalized after extensive brainstorming by the management committee. The amenities have evolved over a period of time. Progress breeds evolution and hence we can see that the amenities are repaired, renovated or replaced as and when the situation demands.
External Amenities
The aged community requires spending time amidst natural surroundings which is proven to be beneficial both physically and mentally to the elders. The external amenities are as mentioned below
Walkway
The total length of the walkway is about 1000ft and has a breadth of 6ft which is broad enough to enable elders to walk with someone for company or if they need some assistance to walk
Prayer Hall
A peaceful and well ventilated circular prayer hall of 900sqft is built to perform Pujas and other rituals. Some of the elders voluntarily maintain the decorum of the Prayer hall
Fruit Bearing Trees
During the morning and evening walks, trees such as Coconut, Chikoo, Custard-apple, mango among others provide the elders shade and the trees provide them with juicy fruits when the season approaches
Kitchen
A well stocked kitchen and a spacious dining hall of 1485 sqft serves up fresh, delicious jain meals to the elders. Desserts are provided on Sundays and on days when food is sponsored by a donor.
Stage & Sitting Area
A stage of 240sqft is set up to celebrate functions, occasions, and festivals. An 1800 sqft space is designated for people to sit and witness the events on stage. The light of the setting sun drapes the stage in a goldenish red hue
Open Air Exercise Area
A 540 sqft area designated as the exercise area would enable the elders to engage themselves in light exercises which would help them stay fit as a fiddle
Pyramid Area
To help meditate, a hexagonal pyramidal shaped platform is built behind the kitchen area. The trees around the platform provide excellent cover from the heat of the sun
Water Fountain
The sound of running water can soothe the mind. A fountain will be set up next to the stage
Internal Amenities
People in the twilight of their life need comfort, care and love. The internal amenities provided in the main building for the elders cater to the three aspects mentioned above are as mentioned below
TV room
A Television is provided to make sure that the entertainment aspect is not lost for the elders of Sukhalay. A satellite connection is also provided to the Television set
Solar Geyser
Access to hot water is virtually throughout the day since the hot water connection is connected to four 200 liter solar geysers
Consumables
Hair oil, soaps and other consumables is provided to the occupants on a monthly basis free of charge
Durables
Each occupant is provided with a cot, independent almirah, chair, stool, bucket and a tumbler, clothes drying stand for their personal usage
Running water
Running water is accessible 24 hours as there are a pair of borewells and municipal supply which provide ample amount of water for the occupants to use
Single occupancy rooms
Eight single occupancy rooms are provided upon special request. The rooms have toilets and bathrooms attached. Each room has a fan and lighting equipment fitted. Mosquito nets are attached to the windows
Common room
For every three double occupancy bedrooms there is a common room available. These common rooms are especially useful when relatives of the elders visit them. The rooms are spacious enough and are well ventilated with large windows
Double occupancy rooms
Twenty four double occupancy rooms are available. The rooms have toilets and bathrooms attached. Each room has a fan and lighting equipment fitted. Mosquito nets are attached to the windows
Edible consumables
A supply of biscuits, sweets and snacks is replenished on a weekly basis. Seasonal fruits are provided as per availability. Mangoes are provided to the elders on a daily basis during the season
Separate restroom for staff and drivers
Drivers who accompany the visitors have separate restrooms for their usage
Laundry services
Dedicated staff to cater to the laundry services are staffed in the premises
Dining Hall
A spacious dining area where piping hot food is served to the elders with utmost love and care.
